The Greater Rockford Pantry Coalition consists of 15 local food pantries in the Rockford area, working actively together addressing the hunger needs of our community. Each pantry provides a warm and inviting atmosphere, welcoming the clients they serve. Food Pantries are staffed with teams of dedicated volunteers, whom also have made it their mission to serve less-fortunate families in our community.

With Rockford’s un-employment rate at an all time high, pantries continue to struggle to accommodate the drastic increase in clients seeking services. Keeping the shelves stocked with a variety of nutritional foods has become very challenging to almost all of the members of the Pantry Coalition. Due to a financial shortfall and lack of food donations, many pantries are faced with the constant struggle of continuing to provide services to our community.

The Pantry Coalition participates annually in the National Postal Food Drive and the Crop Hunger Walk. All Food, so generously donated, is evenly distributed among all Pantry Coalition members.

Pantry directors and coordinators meet monthly to discuss how to best address Hunger needs, operational issues, funding issues, community awareness and involvement. It is our hope to enlighten our community on the 15 local food pantries in the Coalition; the difficulties faced, and express our need of support through contributions, food drives, and/or fundraisers. We would like to encourage those interested in giving back to consider the GRPC as a whole when hosting a fundraiser or a food collection. This provides the opportunity for your contribution to be used to it's maximum, due to the large geographic area where pantries are located, as opposed only benefiting clients from one individual food pantry. 

Each agency can provide hunger statics, detailed information regarding the hunger needs of our community and rewarding volunteer opportunities to those interested in joining our fight against hunger.
